adoption fundraiser packages usps adoption sale to raise money for adoptive family

I didn’t really know what I was getting into when I decided to sell half my closet as an adoption fundraiser. I was a bit over my head at times, but you know what? Together, we pulled it off. Most of the 75+ items sold within an hour on Facebook and Instagram.

We raised $700 from this little sale.

How incredible is that?

I was planning on being happy if we reached $200. We more than doubled that, and I am so humbled by your generosity! Two families contributed very generous donations during the sale, and I know God is going to multiply those gifts to get these girls to the loving family who is waiting for them. All of the money is going directly to the Idehen family, a Nigerian-American family here in the U.S. adopting two little girls from their home country of Nigeria. I let Eric know the total this morning, and he was thrilled and beyond thankful for your hearts. So am I. Thank you.

This morning, I shipped packages across the country, from California to New York, and pretty much everywhere in between. I’m blown away at your willingness to help a family most of you don’t even know. I hope you got some good deals and enjoy your happy mail! (And remember that necklace we’re giving away? I haven’t forgotten about it! I’ve had a feverish baby and an out-of-town husband, but things are back to normal, and I’ll announce a winner SOON!)

This is just a small part in their adoption fees, but I know how difficult it can be to fund an adoption, and it’s my hope that God will use this little sale to not only cover some fees, but encourage this loving family as they follow God into this swirling ocean of hope and unknowns. Each package I sent was a reminder to pray for the two sweet faces across the globe, and for the family here in the U.S. who has committed to saying, you’re not alone anymore.

We can never underestimate what we can do when we come together. We all can’t do everything, but we can all do something. We love, and we do acts of love, not out of guilt, or obligation, or because we’re morally superior, but we simply love because He first loved us.

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” [micah 6:8]
